The social protection system in our country is improving every year. Extensive work is being done to provide targeted assistance to the needy, citizens with disabilities, and those in need of social protection. Allowance allocated to a child with disabilities in the neighborhood, conditions created for orphans - all these are the practical results of the activity of this system.
"Inson" social services center of Pastdargom district of Samarkand region is also conducting systematic work in order to support the population in need of social protection and to increase their activity in the life of the society.
Sabir Ergashev, a resident of Baldir district, lost both legs due to an accident 33 years ago. After that, there were days when he was depressed and lost hope in life. But he lived on his patience. He did not forget that he is responsible for the well-being of his family and the future of his children. In this situation, he plowed the land, poured straw, picked bricks, worked in the garden, and repaired shoes.
Oghiloy Mahkamova, social worker of the neighborhood, studied, heard and understood the condition of brother Sabir. In April 2025, prosthetic legs were made for him on a special order. On the day he wore the prosthesis for the first time, there was such a light in the eyes of brother Sabir that it is difficult to express this light in words. He got up cautiously. First he took one step, then two, then three, whispering to himself: "I'm walking. I'm walking like other people again!' This is not an ordinary march, but a triumph of human will, patience and aspiration.
"That's when my life started anew." I thought I might not be able to walk anymore. Nevertheless, I managed to get a hold of myself and started farming and carpentry. I worked hard for my family and for my children to grow up. Since patience is gold, the help and kindness shown to me brightened my life. They are keeping me away, sending me to health centers, undergoing medical examinations. "The more you live in such a humane country, the more you want to live," says brother Sabir.
Yes, a person can bend and bend. But it will not break as long as there is a state and society that supports it. The life of brother Sabir is a clear example of this. Social protection means providing comprehensive support to people who cannot find a solution to their problems in life, restoring their confidence in the future. Satisfied faces, sincere prayers, joyful hearts - all these are high marks given to this system.
