Forish district was established in 1935 under the name of Bogdan as part of Samarkand region. In 1962, it was annexed to Nurota and Jizzakh districts. After the formation of Syrdarya region, in 1964 the district was reorganized under the name of Forish. In 1974, Jizzakh region was established, and Forish was included in it.

It borders Kazakhstan to the north and northeast, Jizzakh, Zafarabad, Arnasoy, Dostlik, Mirzachol districts to the east, Gallaorol district to the south, Samarkand and Navoi regions to the west. Its area is 9.53 thousand square kilometers and occupies 48% of the total area of the region. The population is more than 99 thousand people.

The terrain consists of lowlands, mountains, hills, and mountains and ridges such as Nurota, Baliglitov, Pistalitog, Yetimtog, Koytash. The highest peak of Nurota - Hayotboshi is 2169 meters above sea level.

One of the ancient water structures is the "Khonbandi" dam. The dam, made entirely of granite stones, was built in the north of the district center, between Pistali mountain, in order to collect the water flowing from the gorges around the mountain villages such as Osmonsoy, Ilonchi, Yomchi, Ortakishloq, Yatoq, and to irrigate crops in summer. At one time, 1 million 600 cubic meters of water was collected in the reservoir, which is 200 meters wide and 1.5 kilometers long. The structure, built in the 16th century by the order of Abdullah Khan II, a famous representative of the Shaybani dynasty, later lost its importance due to the depletion of water.

Graves dating back to BC were found at the foothills of the Orphanage. In addition, you can see the remains of ancient fortifications and rock paintings in the district. There is a 2,000-year-old spruce in the village of Mojrum. The diameter of the trunk of this tree

8 meters, over 20 meters tall.

196 species of birds live in the "Nurota" reserve, which covers an area of more than 17,000 hectares.

814 types of plants grow. It is worth noting that more than 1,500 algors occupied the reserve.

The Aydar-Arnasoy lake system, which occupies a large part of Forish, was formed in 1969 as a result of the discharge of water from the "Chordara" reservoir to the pastures to prevent flooding of settlements after excessive rainfall.

More than a hundred water birds have settled in the area. 13 species of these birds are international, 24 of them are included in the red book of our country. There are also more than 20 species of fish in the basin.

Forish has large deposits of limestone, marble and basalt. It is possible to get iron, zinc, and lead from the Tzkuloch mine. These underground resources are used in the large-scale production of lime, cement and basalt fiber products in the district.

By the way, there is a legend among the Persians that Amir Temur called one of the villages in the district Paris after the capital of France. Later, this name moved from the village to the district. It is difficult to say how correct or incorrect this interpretation is.
